Keynote Speakers
Len Gray is the Professor in Geriatric Medicine, and the Acting Director of the Centre for Online Health, at the University of Queensland, Australia. He is trained as a physician and as a health administrator. His research interests focus of clinical systems and systems of care delivery for aged care and related services. There is a special emphasis on e-health and telemedicine. He is a Board Member of the interRAI international research collaboration which develops clinical decision support systems for aged care, mental health and disability services. He currently holds 4 NHMRC grants, all related to service system development and tele-health.
Leif Erik Nohr is a lawyer and has worked as a legal adviser at The Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine since 1998. He has participated in both national and international projects, covering many aspects of telemedicine/ehealth and law. He is a member of a Nordic eHealth Forum and a Nordic Network of eHealth law. In 2008/2009 Nohr worked as a visiting academic at the Centre for Online Health, Brisbane, Australia.
Deputy Director and Senior Research Fellow Over the last ten years, the COH has earned international recognition as a pioneer in the field of telepaediatrics (i.e. the delivery of paediatric health services at a distance). In collaboration with the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, the COH provides routine telepaediatric services for children all throughout Queensland – involving a broad range of specialties including burns care, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, neurology, orthopaedics and psychiatry. Previously, Dr Smith has had over ten years’ clinical experience as a Registered Nurse specialising in paediatrics and child health.
Dr Pamela Whitten, Ph.D., is Dean of the College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University and a Professor in the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies & Media. Whitten enjoys an international reputation as a leading researcher in the field of telemedicine. Specifically, her research focuses on the use of technology in health care with a specific interest in telehealth and its impact on the delivery of health care services and education. Prior to joining the faculty of MSU in 1998, Whitten ran the telemedicine program for the state of Kansas through the University of Kansas Medical Center. |
