Thank you for registering to attend the 10th National Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion 2011 to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 2nd -4th November.

This e-newsletter is to provide you with important information about attending the conference.


 Conference Registration
The registration desk is located on the Plaza Level foyer of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Conference staff will be able to assist you with any queries you may have in regards to your registration, accommodation, social functions and catering.

Registration desk operating hours:
Wednesday 2 November: 7.00 am - 5.30 pm
Thursday 3 November: 8.00 am - 5.30 pm
Friday 4 November: 8.00 am - 3.00 pm

All delegates and speakers will be provided with a name badge. Please ensure it is worn at all times within the venue. Your name badge is your entry to all sessions, the exhibition, lunches, morning and afternoon teas and the social events. If you misplace your name badge, please see the conference staff at the registration desk for a replacement.

 Exhibitors
The exhibition is located on the Plaza Level foyer and will be open in conjunction with the conference at the following times:

Wednesday 2 November 12.00 pm - 7.00 pm
Thursday 3 November 8.00 am - 5.00 pm
Friday 4 November 8.00 am - 1.30 pm

 Posters
Posters will be located on the Plaza Level foyer and will be on display for the duration of the conference. A dedicated poster viewing session will be held on Thursday 3 November between 10am and 11am and all delegates are encouraged to view the poster displays and meet the authors.

Poster authors are reminded that it is their responsibility to place and remove their poster and the conference organizers will not be responsible for posters left behind at the end of the conference.

 Useful Information
Parking
Undercover parking is available at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre for a flat rate of $15 per vehicle per day. The car park can be entered via Merivale Street. There is internal lift access from the car park to the ground level of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, with additional lift access to the conference levels.

Internet Access
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre has introduced free Wi-Fi for visitors to the Centre. Their new service called BCEC-LINK, allows visitors to connect to the internet to check emails, send emails, chat on Facebook, Twitter and Skype wherever they are within the Centre. The free service is limited to 256k bandwidth. 

 Transport
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is well serviced by public transport with both the international and domestic airports only a 20 minute taxi ride from the Centre.

Airtrain
Catch the Airtrain from South Brisbane station to Brisbane’s international and domestic airports. Tickets are available for this service from the Client and Visitors Services Centre located in the Main Foyer.

Bus Services
South Bank is serviced by two bus stations: The Cultural Centre Station on Melbourne Street and the South Bank Busway Station cnr of Colchester and Tribune Streets, South Bank. A free city loop bus service circles Brisbane’s Central Business District including South Bank.

CityCats
A popular and speedy way to travel the river. The CityCat terminal is located outside the riverside restaurants on the riverside promenade. CityCats operate daily from 5.30am to 10.30am.

Taxi
Taxi ranks are located outside the main entrance to the Convention Centre, at Mantra South Bank in Grey Street and at various locations throughout the precinct.

Trains
There are two train stations within a five minute walk of the Centre. South Bank Station accessed from Tribune Street and South Brisbane Railway Station adjacent to the Convention Centre in Grey Street.

Please note the South Brisbane train station will be temporarily closed from Monday, 31 October until Friday, 9 December (inclusive) for restoration and renovation works. Customers can travel to South Bank station instead, or access regular bus services on the nearby South East Busway at the Cultural Centre and South Bank Busway stations. There will also be a shuttle bus service running between the South Bank and South Brisbane stations for people travelling on a valid fare.
