Technical Tour - Royal Pines Resort (Wednesday)

When: 10.00am Wednesday 9th September (Meet in Gold Coast International Hotel Foyer at 9.30am)

The Technical tour for the 60th National IHEA Conference will be held at the Royal Pines Resort

The resort has a 27 hole golf course, a 5 star hotel with over 200 rooms in a tower block and extensive function rooms in a po3 storey podium.  The podium also contains a number of back of house functions to support both the hotel and the function areas.  There are also a number of out door features such as tennis courts, reflection pond and various pools.

The tour will include an overview of the site and possibly a short tour of part of the grounds.  Then there will be some detailed inspections of various areas within the facility.

Areas that will prove to be of interest to the tour participants will include: -

  • The ballroom and its back of house areas,
  • The air-conditioning of the hotel rooms ( individually controlled fan coil units off a central chilled water loop)
  • Gas boilers for hot water generation
  • HV power generation
  • Kitchen areas (including a chocolate kitchen)
  • Security system CCTV with DVR recording
  • The new restaurant (currently under construction)
  • Pool areas and the water harvesting and distribution
  • BMS and energy management systems

Welcome Reception: Gold Coast International Hotel (Wednesday night)

Gold Coast Internatonal HotelThe IHEA 2009 Welcome Reception will be held poolside at the Gold Coast International Hotel. Delegates can enjoy drinks and canapés while getting to know each other in a relaxing, tropical setting. The MC and entertainer for the evening will be Nigel (the guy who remembers names).

Partners Program (Thursday)

Palazzo Versace, Gold CoastPartners attending the accompanying persons program will be treated to a day of luxury starting with a visit to Q1, the world’s tallest residential tower and Australia’s tallest building.

Morning tea will be served while partners enjoy breath-taking 360 degree views of the entire Gold Coast, from the surf to the hinterland and beyond.

Following the Q1 visit partners will go for a luxury cruise along the Nerang River while enjoying a 5 star buffet lunch. The day will then conclude with a trip to the luxurious Palazzo Versace for high tea.

Conference Dinner - Sea World by Night (Friday night)

Seaworld, Gold Coast - aerial shotEverybody loves Sea World, Australia’s most famous theme park, where creatures great and small share an aquatic paradise packed with fast and furious thrill rides. Polar bears, sharks, dolphins and seals, they’re all part of the Sea World family.

The dinner will be held in the Paradise Room which boasts spectacular Sea World park views through floor to ceiling glass walls. Delegates will enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapés, a delicious Sea World three course dinner, live musical entertainment and a visit from a very special guest.

Social Day for Delegates and Partners - O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat and Canungra Valley Vineyard (Saturday)

O'Reilly's Rainforest RetreatO’Reilly’s is located in the heart of Lamington National Park, Australia’s largest area of sub-tropical rainforest.
On arrival at O’Reilly’s the IHEA 2009 Social Day will begin with morning tea at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Pavilion. Guests are then invited to experience a birds eye view of the rainforest canopy on O’Reilly’s famous Tree Top Walk, an 180m walkway suspended 20 metres above the forest floor. Delegates will then enjoy a 4WD bus excursion around the Lamington National Park.

Guests will then be transported to the Canungra Valley Vineyard for some lunch, wine tasting and relaxation before being returned to the Gold Coast International Hotel.
