Full Time Student Workshop Rate - $440

This course will:

  • Identify the different types of greenroofs
  • Identify the benefits of greenroofs
  • Identify the factors that influence the cost of green roofs
  • Design opportunities and best practice
  • Overview of the many different professionals required for green roof success.

Currently the tangible pubic and private benefits of green roofs are under valued.
Green roof technologies need to be brought to the forefront of high performance, restorative green building design, implementation and maintenance. Given the many benefits of green roof technology the Australian green roof industry is poised for rapid growth over the next decade. It is on this basis that a need has been clearly identified to increase awareness of the economic, social and environmental benefits of green roof infrastructure across Australia and advance the development of the market for green roof products and services.

This workshop provides strategic and statutory planners with a methodology for increasing their understanding of the interactions between cities and their host environments and examines the ways in which town planning seeks to express and regulate these interactions.

Participants will then be presented with a case study of the journey taken by planning staff at the City of Toronto during the development of North America’s first large-scale green roof by-law. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be better equipped to identify and coordinate resources within their own workplace to assist in the development of planning provisions and policies that promote green roof infrastructure in Australia.

Please note that while it is possible to attend both the Substrate and Plant Workshop and the Policy Workshop, those registering for the GRA101 Workshop can not register for either of the other workshops.
