Before that, Ben ran his own sponsorship consultancy in 2004, and was the Head of Marketing for the Asian PGA Tour from 2002-2004. His philosophy has remained the same – he believes that the current communications model is not working hard enough and brands must look to alternative communications media to hit their target audience. Sponsorship (or partnership) is one such medium. In the US and Europe, sponsorship is ubiquitous and sophisticated – in Asia it is not, but the industry is learning very quickly. Rights holders are developing bona fide properties that deliver returns: brands are becoming more challenging of their partner platforms. Furthermore, as Ben was quoted in Media magazine: “MNC brands are cottoning on to the fact that 60% of the world’s population lives in Asia… they see Asia as the next playground for sponsorship” Ben also manages the company’s partnership with Sports Marketing Surveys, the largest independent sports & leisure research agency worldwide, which offers a measurement & ROI evaluation service for his clients.
