WelcomeInvitation to attend the Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine's 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting
As Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 2010 conference I invite you to attend the 2010 ASAM Conference. This year’s meeting will be held at the Shine Dome, Canberra, ACT from 16-19 September. Canberra is a modern city, set within extensive parks and gardens and enjoys four distinct seasons. Home to 347,000 people and located in the Australian Capital Territory, Canberra is one of the world’s few planned cities, a city in a park, with a kaleidoscope of colours and experiences turned by the changing seasons, especially evident during Floriade (the biggest flower festival in Australia which is being held 11 September to 10 October in Commonwealth Park). The Scientific Committee has decided this year to focus on cardiology with the theme 'The Heart of the Nation'. We believe this topic has been somewhat neglected and the time is right for some in-depth papers and discussion on this important area. We have been most fortunate to secure Dr Andrei Catanchin from the Perth Cardiovascular Institute as the John Lane Orator as well as Professor Rod Jackson from the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at University of Auckland as the Patterson Trust speaker. Read more As usual, we aim to provide a diversity of topics that will appeal to the membership. Dr Diana Rubel will provide an update on dermatology. There will be a CASA session for Designated Aviation Medical Examiners. I would encourage DAMEs to submit papers on any difficult and interesting aircrew cases they have encountered in their clinical practice. Sponsorship and trade opportunities are now available including Welcome Reception Sponsor, Conference Dinner Sponsor, Coffee Sponsor, Trade Display Sponsor and Satchel Insert. The Conference Organising Committee, and the Federal Committee of ASAM look forward to welcoming you to Canberra for what promises to be a professionally rewarding and socially enjoyable meeting in the spectacular surroundings of Canberra.
