Barbara Chappell is an experienced community engagement practitioner living and working in South Australia with an International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) license to train participants in public participation and emotion and outrage management. She holds a Masters of Conflict Management. Barbara is the recipient of two awards for her contributions to community engagement in SA. Her mediation skills were developed through pro-bono court work involving small claims and resolving resident disputes in local government. She has a background in hospital services management, qualifications in Human Resource Management, and a commitment to community volunteering. Barbara’s diverse knowledge base enable her to bring value and integrity to working with people. Barbara completed post graduate studies in Dialogue, Deliberation and Public Engagement through the Fielding Graduate University in 2010 to increase her knowledge and her abilities to contribute to the improvement of community relations across South Australia. Jane Booth
Associate Director Jane has extensive experience in developing business strategy, organisational design and leading culture change in complex multi-divisional organisations. She has a proven track record in delivering people based solutions to business challenges, having led creative businesses as a senior manager across the public and private sectors of the UK media industry and latterly as Head of Talent Management for the BBC in the UK. Currently an Associate Director with PwC in Adelaide, Jane has provided a range of consultancy services to various organisations in the public sector in SA, including business transformation, leadership development and coaching programs. Alongside deep expertise in talent strategy, Jane has widespread experience in designing and delivering leadership and management development initiatives, capability audits and building high performing teams. Jane co-developed the leadership framework for the BBC and is also an accredited executive performance coach. Sam Schwarz
Manager Parking and Traffic Sam Schwarz is an experienced business and people manager. Over the past two decades, he has forged a reputation for excellence across a range of industries. In January 2010, Sam joined City of Melbourne as Manager, Parking and Traffic Branch. In this role, Sam has led the City's largest technological change program in more than three decades. A major workplace reform initiative, Sam's role work has included remodelling the organisation’s largest workforce, introducing cutting edge technology across the City, and managing of a raft of complex industrial relations issues. Game-changing, high profile and complex, this is the type of project Sam has sought throughout his career. Sam has held an executive position with global industry leader, Disney Theatrical Productions, taking the 200-strong cast and crew of The Lion King stage production to Shanghai, China; the largest piece of music theatre to ever perform in the country. More recently, Sam managed the Human resources division (Vic/Tas) of leading not-for-profit organisation, MS Australia, where his passion for social justice and expertise in change management played a pivotal role in the organisation’s development. Sam has undertaken post graduate studies in management and organisation dynamics, where he has built on his keen interest in the study of small work groups and interpersonal relationships. He has been a Director of Verve – Knowledge & Skills (now known as SkillsHub) for six years and was appointed Chairperson in 2009 where he guides the strategic direction of this Industry Training Advisory Board. Outside of work and community commitments, Sam spends significant time with his close and supportive family. He is a keen road cyclist, and a connoisseur of fine Australian wine (ask him about his red wine collection). He has a passion for reading, a taste in music that roams the spectrum, and a propensity to ‘tinkle the ivories’ when a piano is nearby. Leon MarskellManager of Regulatory Services Leon Marskell has worked in the NSW Local Government sector for over 20 years. He has worked his way up through the ranks as an active Enforcement Officer dealing with all aspects of Local Government Enforcement. Leon is currently the Manager of Regulatory Services for the City of Ryde a position he has held for the past 5 1/2 years. He continues to pro-actively push for uniformity within Local Government Enforcement particularly in the area of Parking Enforcement and officer safety. He is currently representing the ANPSG (NSW) and the City of Ryde on the NSW Local Government Industry Taskforce on Safety - Rangers and Parking Patrol Officers. Leon is a 20 year member of the Australian Local Government Rangers Institute and has been an active participant at ANPSG Workshops since 2003. Leon was also instrumental in the programing and presenting of the 11th ANPSG Workshop in Sydney in 2007. |
