Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with the utmost pleasure that I invite you to join us in Adelaide to participate in the 2011 IHEA National Conference.

The Institute was formed some 70 years ago, and has met collectively 61 times as a national body. The Conference provides opportunity for valuable exchange of ideas, celebrating successes and achievements and excellent networking opportunities with the ability to learn from and challenge each other. Our industry has some dedicated suppliers, valued consultants and many other stakeholders within our dynamic sphere.

This Conference in Adelaide will provide an opportunity to make new, or re-establish existing professional and personal relationships with peers who continue to rise to the challenge of an ever changing health-care environment.

This 62nd National Conference provides us with an ability to look towards all of the challenges of our business and to recognise and address the demographics and drivers which will continue to shape the industry.  We will cast our collective minds to ‘Strategies for Planning and Delivering Quality Healthcare Facilities’ and look forward to continuing to provide appropriate and cost effective solutions for the present and the future. We value continuous improvement and innovation and will keep providing the outcomes that the population demands of us now and into the future; as resources become more and more difficult to secure.

We must also look to grow our organisation by becoming more inclusive of others on the periphery of our genesis, as the general population ages and the key decision makers become even more clinically driven. We also recognize that our profession continues to gravitate towards financial outcomes and we will include those with backgrounds beyond the traditional engineering profession.

There are few professions that are as adaptable and capable as we continually demonstrate, but at times we need to take stock and give ourselves a little pat on the back and the National Conference gives us a chance to do just that.

The Adelaide 2011 Healthcare Facility Management Conference will provide you with an exciting array of quality presenters speaking on relevant and challenging issues confronting us all.  The program will also include supporting technical and trade activities, as well as some inviting social events to take advantage of Australia’s premier wine destination, South Australia.

So on behalf of the organising committee, I extend my warmest invitation to you all to attend.
