Keynote SpeakersPeter BainesTHURSDAY 20 OCTOBER, 10.10AM - 11.00 AM Peter Baines has spent his working career as a Crime Scene Investigator prior to moving into a command position within the Forensic Services Group of the NSW Police. He has completed university studies in the area of forensic science, law and post graduate studies in management. Peter bid farewell to the police force recently and now dedicates his time to speaking, expanding the amazing work of Hands Across the Water and assisting companies to build engagement through Corporate Social Responsibility. He is an expert at creating successful results, starting from nothing - no time, no money, no staff, but as Peter Baines says, “no worries”. Throughout almost two decades Peter has experienced, and led people through, some of life’s most challenging events. He has come up against some of the most confronting natural disasters, accidents and acts of terrorism in recent times, making him one of Australia’s most experienced disaster management specialists. Peter has led both national and international teams following the Bali Bombings, the Waterfall Train Disaster and the Boxing Day Tsunami. Peter Baines has firsthand experience of what it takes to achieve results in the midst of human devastation, when outcomes can only be reached through building powerful teams quickly, and how to focus on getting the job done in the face of intense environmental, political and media pressures. David PanterExecutive Director, Health Reform, Department of Health, South Australia THURSDAY 20 OCTOBER, 3.45PM - 4.30PM David was educated in England and holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology. He brings a wealth of experience from across the health and local government sectors in the United Kingdom. He has held senior executive and chief executive roles in a number of National Health Service bodies over 15 years, including the UK’s first Primary Care Trust. Before arriving in Australia in 2004 David was the Chief Executive of Brighton and Hove City Council. In October 2004 David was the inaugural Chief Executive of the Central Northern Adelaide Health Service. In January 2007 David moved into the SA Department of Health to lead the health reform process. As part of this David is the Executive Director of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital development. In November 2007 David was elected National President of the Australian Healthcare and Hospital Association. He continues in this role. David holds two academic appointments, Associate Professor of Psychology of University of Adelaide and Adjunct Professor of Health Systems Management of University of South Australia. Robin Moore
District Chief Operating Officer, Cairns and Hinterland Health service District FRIDAY, 21 OCTOBER, 8.40AM - 9.25AM Robin Moore is the current District Chief Operating Officer for the Cairns and Hinterland Health Service District. This role covers approx 143,000 square kilometres consisting of 19 hospital facilities and 11 community health centres. The operational responsibilities cover all aspects of health care including acute health, mental health, community and population health services and just recently prison health services. Prior to moving to Cairns just over 18 months ago he was Director of Operation at Flinders Medical Centre Robin has worked in a number of senior nursing roles including the combined Director of Nursing and General Manager position at Noarlunga Health Services. After moving his family to Cairns in March 2010 he was only in position for 4 weeks before having to take on the District CEO position for a number of weeks. He is looking forward to sharing his experience of disaster management for cyclone Yasi in his first “Wet Season” in Far North Queensland. |
